About

I'm Julia.

Writing is my favorite thing to do, cheese is my weakness, and I recently discovered "tea sommelier" isn't just something I made up.

I majored in political science at DePaul University and quickly learned I can't resist a project with soul.

I spent a term in Leuven, Belgium and interned at the Centre Technique de Coopération Agricole et Rurale. When I returned home, I taught creative writing in Chicago Public Schools through 826Chi.

I wrote for College News for 3 years. And completed comedy writing programs at Second City, iO, and Stage 773.

I became one of the first hires at Just Porter, a backpack startup that subscribes to the buy-one-give-one model. I spent my free time at the Field Museum teaching the differences between horns and antlers, mastodons and elephants, and ancient weaponry.

Currently, I use my marketing powers for good at Bright Pink, a national nonprofit focused on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women.

I am the president of the Chicago chapter of Women in Comedy. And can probably be found at an improv theater near you.
